SammanfattningSyftet med den här uppsatsen är att utvärdera tal- och ljudböckers klassifikation på biblioteket, hemsidan och i statistiken och efterfrågan på tal- och ljudböcker. Det bibliotek som utvärderingen har utförts på är Nordmalings bibliotek i Västerbottens län. Utlåningen av tal- och ljudböcker kommer att jämföras med klassifikationen av tal- och ljudböcker. Målet är att hitta förändringar som gör klassifikationen och beslut om beståndet av tal- och ljudböcker enklare för bibliotekarierna. Även efterfrågan på tal- och ljudböcker kommer att undersökas i uppsatsen. För att besvara frågeställningarna användes statistiken från år 2010 på KB:s hemsida samt en egen sökning av formaten på tal- och ljudböcker på den gemensamma hemsidan för Umeåregionens folkbibliotek,www.minabibibliotek.se, som gjordes i november 2011.

This master thesis concerns the relationship the librarianhas to the libraries classification system. The system itselfis made by librarians for librarians and is only used bylibrarians. This raises the question of how the librariansrelate to their own system to create order. The empiricalmaterial consists of five in-depth interviews with librarians.Two theoretical approaches were used in the analysis of thematerial with one focus on the librarian?s professional rolland the other on the postmodern theories about humansneed for order.

The aim of this thesis is to compare two different classification schemes with each other and see what the differences and similarities are when classifying literature concerning film and television. One of the schemes is of general kind, Klassifikationssystem för svenska bibliotek (SAB) and the other is a special system, FIAF Classification scheme for literature on film and television. The focus of the examination is on comparing the structure, contents and division of firstly the main classes and secondly on comparing the notation and the auxiliary tables in the schemes. The theoretical framework of the comparison is based upon theory of classification but the conclusions drawn are though mostly of a more subjective character. In addition to the comparison itself interviews have been made with four libraries, two with experiences of SAB and two with experiences of FIAF.

In this two years masters thesis in Library and Information Studies, the Russian Library-Bibliographical Classification (LBC/BBK) and the Chinese Library Classification (CLC) are analyzed with regard to their historical and ideological backgrounds and their respective evolutions. The structure of these classifications is compared with the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), as well as three chosen subjects (History, Politics and Religion). A qualitative comparative textual method is used.The study shows that these classification schemes, created at different times, different parts of the world, and different political systems, have different biases but give priority to the European before other foreign views. Otherwise, they often use a proximity principle. The CLC and the LBC were originally based on Marxist materialist principles but built in totally different ways.

Intervjuer utfördes via telefon och e-mail till andra meröppna bibliotek, och en fokusgrupp utfördes med besökare och personal vid Sävar bibliotek. This master's thesis examines the possibilities of correction and change in a classification scheme, with regard to the changes that occur in the world the classification system intends to describe.Applying a comparative method and classification theory, the classification of the example of the former Yugoslavia (1918-1941, 1945-1991), its republics and successor states, and the languages, formerly known as Serbo-Croatian are examined through a comparison of the main classes and divisions of language, geography, and history, in Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), and Klassifikationssystem för svenska bibliotek [Classification for Swedish Libraries] (SAB). Eight editions of DDC, from 1876 to 2014, are compared to seven editions of SAB, from 1921 to 2013. The editions have been selected in order to show the changes prior to, and following, the First World War, changes after the Second World War, and changes following the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1991.The examination shows that both systems have updated their editions according to the changes in former Yugoslavia over the years. DDC has well constructed facet schedules, especially Table 2 concerning geography, but fails, in some cases, to construct a logic and hierarchical structure for the republics and languages of Yugoslavia, partly due to the fixed classes and divisions that survive from the very first edition of DDC from 1876, but also as a result of the decimal notation, and its limitations, itself.SAB seeks to construct a hierarchically logic and equal scheme for the languages, areas, and states of the former Yugoslavia. Although the facets for geography and chronology aren't as developed as the ones in DDC, the overall result is that of a logically consistent and hierarchically clear classification, with short notation codes, thanks to the alphabetic mixed notation, which allows more subdivisions than the numerals and the pure notation of DDC.This study is a two years master's thesis in Archive, Library and Museum studies..

This case study examines the new media presentation system in Alby public library. The aim is to explore if the contemporary Zeitgeist, wich according to the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, could be described as liquid modernity, has affected how the system was formed. The purpose is to find out how that would affect users and staff of public libaries of the contemporary. Interviews were conducted with the library staff, and plans and documents concerning the media presentation system was examined.The empirical part of this thesis starts with a study of the process that resulted in the new presentation system while the second part examines the system as such. I discovered that both the media presentation system, and the process which preceded it, contained aspects that could be traced to liquid modernity.

Denna uppsats syftar till att se hur Nacka kommun styr sina bibliotek i offentlig och privat regi och om det finns en skillnad i synsättet på bibliotekets samhällsuppdrag mellan biblioteken som påverkar hur dessa tolkar och implementerar de krav som kommunen ställer. En förstudie gjordes i form av en observation på respektive bibliotek samt intervju med en ombudsman och en utredare för facket DIK för att få större inblick i ämnet. Intervjuer med respondenter från ett bibliotek som drivs i privat regi och ett offentligt bibliotek genomfördes samt en intervju med en utvärderingsexpert hos Nacka kommun. Informationen från dessa intervjuer analyserades sedan efter de utvalda organisationsteorier som valts ut efter uppsatsens syfte. Resultatet av analysen visade på en skillnad i synsättet hos respektive bibliotek både på ett organisatoriskt plan och i det utbud bibliotek erbjuder till medborgarna.

A large part of research about libraries and library buildings in Sweden has been focused on how the building looks not how it functions with the library. The aim with this master?s thesis is to study how a library building is functioning and how its users are experiencing it. This is studied in three libraries, Kungliga tekniska högskolans bibliotek, Sambiblioteket in Härnösand and Vitterhetsakademiens bibliotek. With the questions of how they were planed, what did the libraries want from the new building and which of these demands were realized.

Enligt tillgänglig statistik besöker män bibliotek i lägre grad än kvinnor, de lånar och läser färre böcker än kvinnor och köper färre böcker än kvinnor. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att belysa varför män inte nyttjar bibliotek i samma utsträckning som kvinnor med hjälp av psykologiska förklaringsmodeller och utifrån resultatet ge underlag för åtgärder för att öka mäns besök och nyttjande av bibliotek. Om inte bakomliggande orsaker till varför män inte nyttjar kommunens bibliotek klarläggs, finns risk för att mäns fortbildning och samhällsengagemang avtar med den påföljden att demokratiprocessen och jämställdhetssträvandena får stå tillbaka. Examensarbetet har gjorts i form av en litteraturstudie med begränsningen att inget empiriskt underlag fanns att tillgå för att undersöka problemområdet.
